Gift Ideas for Teachers Appreciation Week

It’s teachers appreciation week and now more than ever we need to recognize that our teachers are absolutely AMAZING. My mom, sister, and mother-in-law are all educators so I have a good idea of what teachers want and I have complied a list of gift ideas for Teachers Appreciation Week.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that a global pandemic is taking place and schools are out. All the kiddos are at home and most of them are doing some form of distance learning. Even though you can’t deliver a gift in person to your child’s teacher, there are still some ways you can show your appreciation. I have done all the work for you by finding out what teachers really want this year.

Food delivery gift cards

Grub Hub, Postmates and others have an e-gift card that can be sent through email for contactless gift giving. I love this idea. We will be doing this for Isla’s daycare teachers. I know that a majority of folks are cooking almost every night so why not treat your favorite teacher to keeping their dishes clean and letting him/her order in.

What’s great about these food delivery services is that during this time, all delivery drivers are practicing contactless drop-off at your door so that you don’t have to physically interact with the delivery person. Social distancing all around!

Hand written notes or drawings from the kiddos

My mom has so many drawings and notes displayed near her classroom desk from her kids and I know she would love to get a note from them now. Her time with her first graders was cut short when the school didn’t reopen after spring break. If you don’t know your teacher’s address you can scan and email these items. They miss your kiddos and it’s so nice to remind them that you’re thinking of them too. Even a photo of your kid holding their artwork sent through text or email will bring a smile to your favorite teacher’s face! A thank you note/email from you as well could really brighten their day.

Restaurant gift cards

Our state has started to open up a bit and I know people are itching to safely enjoy an evening out (while social distancing of course). If you want to both support your local businesses while also thanking the teachers in your life, this is a two-birds-one-stone solution!

As a general rule, stay away from homemade foods, coffee mugs (they have a million), and try to stick with gifts that can be emailed, or sent through the mail.

A lot of teachers are spending their own money for home office supplies so maybe a printer cartridge, printer paper delivery could be nice. A gift card to Staples, Office Depot or even Best Buy is a great idea.

Maybe some new noise canceling headphones like these that don’t break the bank but work well for all those Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings.

If you know your teacher is a coffee drinker, find out what kind of coffee (or tea) they like and have some K-cups or a bag sent to them. Depends on your relationship though. Teachers might not be keen on giving their address so this is entirely dependent on your existing relationship with the teacher.

A Target or Amazon gift card

Both can be emailed, and what teacher doesn’t like Target or Amazon? I know these two are obvious choices, and everyone shops on Amazon, however they’re also the catch-all options since you can buy just about anything you want between the two!

I hope you enjoyed this short list of gift ideas for Teachers Appreciation and I would love to hear your ideas if you have any.

Here are some photos of some teachers that are special to me. Happy Teachers Appreciation Week!
