Goals for 2020

2020 is here! That is so weird to say and write. It just doesn’t flow and I have definitely written it wrong several times.

I have given my goals for 2020 a lot of thought in the last couple of weeks and thought I’d share a few with you. If you didn’t read my resolutions from last year, here is a link

My plan this year is to read 12 books. Or one book a month. I know this doesn’t seem like a lot, but for someone who works from 7-5 and then also has a two year old and two side businesses, and usually a mountain of laundry, there doesn’t seem to be much time left over for reading. I plan to read before bed instead of mindlessly scrolling pinterest or instagram.

Sleep more-

If you know me then you know that I love a good nap. I was also blessed with a child who got the nap gene so I actually get a nap most weekends. It is magical. And needed. What you might not know is that I am a terrible sleeper during the night. I usually only get 4-5 hours, 6 at the max. I stay up way too late, take too long to settle down and then wake up at any noise (and usually have to roll the snoring husband over). As I’ve gotten older, my sleep has gotten worse. I have too much on my mind when going to bed and I wake up periodically to check on Isla.

I’m going to try some different things this year to have better sleep but I will also be setting myself a bedtime and hopefully sticking to it.

Eat more-

Greens. Ha! You thought it was just “eat more.” Nope, I pretty much eat whatever already except I do try to avoid gluten. I don’t have an allergy but I do have an intolerance and feel better when I don’t eat it. I just want to make more healthy choices and choose leafy greens when possible.

Be more active-

I know, eye roll. Everyone wants to get skinny come January. I’m honestly just saying I want to be more active. I’ve noticed that I’m not as limber as I used to be, and I want to be able to keep up with Isla as she grows.  I’ve got 30 minutes set aside every day to walk our dogs, play outside and just move more. I plan on using the 30 minutes before dinner. Isla and I have already been playing in the front yard after I get home since the weather has been so nice.  I sit at a desk all day unless I’m with a patient and even then, I’m not meeting my move goals but that is all changing in 2020.

Create a schedule-

My current routine consists of waking up too late, rushing around to get ready, going to work, rushing to pick up Isla, feeding her dinner, bath, putting her to bed, laundry, dishes, and collapsing on the couch to binge the office while I check my email and work on my blog, or building in the garage.  2020 is going to be the year of office hours for the blog. No more editing, scheduling, or writing until the wee morning hours.

Blog more consistently-

So, as it turns out, December didn’t go as planned. I had a ton of Christmas content planned but Christmas kind of snuck up on me and instead of trying to do all the things and posting as much as I wanted to, I decided to be present and spend that time with family instead. The silver lining is that I have 25 posts for NEXT December already written. WHAT. I plan on posting something every Thursday and Sunday in 2020. Today is Thursday. So I’m already crushing it.

Keep track of answered prayers-

This is a big one. I saw a friend on Facebook does this and I thought it was a wonderful idea and I’m all about starting a new family tradition. Basically, she keeps track of answered prayers throughout the year, writes them down, and stores them in a little jar. On new year’s day, they look back as a family at all the answered prayers from the previous year. I can’t wait to look back next year and see how God moved in our lives.

2020 will have a few changes. For one, we will start our house shopping journey this year and maybe think about expanding our family-like this next December, a year from now. We still feel like we just had Isla sometimes, but I am getting older (I’ll be 32 on the 28th) and if you want to read more about 31 facts about me from last year here you go. I won’t go into to this too much but Isla is our rainbow baby. So, we are planning to talk about maybe, perhaps someday adding a second child. This is NOT an announcement.

I inserted some pictures of our New Years celebration with some of our dearest friends.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ll be up to next year. What are your goals for 2020?

    Payton,

I had to comment on this one because we have so many of the same Goals for 2020! (And also the same hectic daily schedule.)
Being a working Mom is hard! I too stay up too late trying to get some “Me” time (Netflix). And then of course after a long night of Netflix and Mom chill, I unconsciously snooze my alarm until the last minute creating a never ending cycle of rushing and sleep deprivation. (If you ever figure out to break the cycle please share! Ha ha!)

My goals for this year are to get back into reading, get more sleep, and of course eat better and be more active (duh.) Probably wouldn’t hurt me to cut back on the Sutter Home and drink more water, but lets not get too crazy.

Love your pics. You and Evan look like you are doing fantastic! Happy house hunting and Happy New Year to you and your family!
