Christmas Cookie Fun

My whole family has been sick this weekend. Isla had a tummy bug and I’ve got a terrible upper respiratory infection at the moment. I thought Evan had been spared but he has caught Isla’s tummy bug. That is why I haven’t posted in a few days. Saturday afternoon we made some cookies and I wanted to share the recipe with you.

I have always loved baking with my Grandma. It doesn’t happen very often because she lives in Illinois and we only see her every couple of years. We always exchange recipes and try them out. My grandma makes all kinds of cookies for Christmas. When we visit her house she has tubs and tubs full of every kind of cookie you could want. It’s amazing.

I’ve always liked her sugar cookies the best. I made them this weekend with Isla and then my nephews came over to decorate them. We had so much fun using different icing and sprinkles. Isla wasn’t that into it this year but I think she will enjoy it later on.

Here is the recipe that I used:

Life as of Late

This has been a wonderful year. Nothing big has happened or anything. Although, that could be a good thing. We’ve just been working, enjoying life with Isla Rose, playing with our puppies and spending a little more time at home with each other.  I thought i’d take just a minute and update you on life as of late.

5 Gifts You Need to Get Your Toddler This Christmas

Day 3 of Blogmas 2019! That’s right. I plan on posting every day (or at least trying to) until Christmas like I did last year. I have a ton of fun Christmas content for you guys and I’m pumped that you’re here. I love this little community. I can’t believe I started this journey over a year ago! Now settle in for a quick list of 5 gifts you need to get your toddler this Christmas!

Books to Read with Your Children During December

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I also hope you’re excited to get some new ideas for Christmas books to read to your child because I’ve put together a short list of books to read with your children during December!

This year has really flown by. Fall is always such a busy time for us because we have Isla’s birthday and our anniversary in October. I’ve been so busy running around and decorating for the Holidays (Home tour coming soon), that I have really had to make slowing down and focusing on what’s around me during this season a priority. It’s so easy to get swept up in social media and screen time during the colder months but I’ve really been making an effort to make memories with Isla.

A Weekend at the Hilton Anatole Dallas

Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored in any way. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I just really like telling people about places and things they might enjoy themselves. This is simply a weekend at the Hilton Anatole Dallas.

A few weeks back, my sister invited us along on their annual weekend getaway to Dallas. She has 2 boys and likes to take them to a water park resort for a weekend before school starts.

I immediately jumped on board because we haven’t been anywhere this year because we are currently saving for our next home (I’ll do a post about this process soon). However, I got a great deal on our hotel and it was too good to pass up. I’m so glad that we went.

Traveling With A Toddler: Hotel Room Hacks

Traveling with a toddler can be hectic to say the least. Last weekend we went on a last minute trip to Dallas and stayed at the Hilton Anatole. We took full advantage or their Jade Waters Resort, which allowed us to get some much needed R&R.  I wanted to share some of the tips and tricks I’ve picked up from staying in hotels with Isla, who is currently 21 months old. These are a collection of hacks that I’ve done her entire life while traveling so I know they are baby and toddler tested and approved. Without further ado, here is my guide to traveling with a toddler and the hotel room hacks that work for us!

Toddler Approved Snack Mix

Isla has always been a great eater. She eats really well at mealtimes but she’s also a huge snacker. She doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth (thank goodness) but I think she gets burnt out on certain snacks after awhile. It’s hard to find a snack that isn’t messy (like veggies and hummus dip) but I have finally found something that is travel friendly and less messy. Keep reading to see how to make the Toddler Approved Snack Mix that my toddler loves!

DIY Toy Box – Tons of Storage!

Heidi-ho, Neighbor! (Anyone else watch old re-runs of Home Improvement and miss the 90s?).

I haven’t had time to build anything in a while to share with you guys. I’ve been helping my mom redo her kitchen, taking a little break from blogging, Isla had a health scare in April and I haven’t felt like writing anything, if i’m being honest. But I thought I’d tell you about Isla’s toy box that I built for her first birthday! This DIY Toy Box offers tons of storage, which makes cleaning her room a breeze!

She turned one in October and I really needed a practical way to store her toys and books. We were having to get creative and stuff toys all over the place to put them away.

I had been wanting to build her a toy box but I knew it would have to have a built in bookshelf as well as storage for bigger items. I have been following Ana White for years and I had seen these plans before.

Teething Tips That Worked and Ones That Didn’t

Let me start off by saying that I am not doctor. All of these tips are things that I’ve learned along the way. I researched online. I asked questions from friends and family. I watched YouTube videos and eventually, I learned what worked for my baby and what didn’t.

How I Entertain My 1 Year Old

I’m fortunate enough that I get to stay home from work with Isla every other Friday and, of course, weekends. Evan has a weird work schedule and doesn’t get weekends off with us. I look forward to these 3-day weekends so much. I love our time together. It’s so nice to be able to sleep in and just lounge around until we decide to make breakfast. So as I’m sure you can guess, I’m going to be showing you how I entertain my 1 year old.
