Christmas Front Porch Decor 2018

Does everyone already have their porch decorated for Christmas?

If not, I’ve got a few simple ideas for you. My decorations are super easy to recreate and look very festive. I didn’t buy a Christmas door mat yet so if you already have one of those you’re a step ahead of me, but I wanted to go ahead and do this post in case anyone was needing some inspiration.

I always see a ton of posts on Instagram of porches that are decked out with a ton of stuff but I prefer just a few items for a seasonal look. After all, my porch isn’t that big. I also have noticed a ton of posts where every single decoration is neutral or flocked. Our tree in our house is pretty neutral so I wanted some color on the porch. I love all the red. So Christmas-y. Now, I just need some carolers to stop by and sing about figgy pudding.

The details:

I bought the pine cone wreath at Trader Joe’s. They are $9.99 and REAL pine branches. I love fresh greenery for Christmas. My porch smells wonderful. Trader Joe’s always has awesome plants at Christmas time. I hung  my wreath on the sled that I built a few days ago. I put up a tutorial on how to make it here. It only uses 1 power tool and is pretty easy to make.

The red sign on the door is from Target a couple of years ago. I’m pretty sure it was in the dollar spot because that is where most of my little decorations come from.  I love how the red looks with my blue door. They had some that were similar this year.

I found the galvanized milk pail in our attic when we moved in and it has been on our porch ever since. Usually, I have a plant in it but now it is holding a tiny Christmas tree that is also from Trader Joe’s. It came with the red bow on top which is great because my bow skills leave much to be desired.  I’m thinking of adding some tiny twinkle lights to it but I’m also enjoying it as is at the moment, so I may hold off. You could also get a galvanized bucket at the hardware store and put the tree in that if you like this look.

The chalkboard easel was given to me by my sister and I did the hand-lettering on it. I’ve been practicing hand lettering for awhile now and this is the first time that I’ve actually displayed something that I’ve done. There are some great tutorials on YouTube if you’re interested in hand-lettering.

The letter P is from an old theater sign and it is always on our porch. My Aunt lives in a tiny town in Illinois and this letter was from their local movie theater. My dad grew up in that town and it’s so special having something that was part of his past. She gave my sister and I these letters a couple of years ago for Christmas. She is always one to give really unique and personal gifts.

I love how this little project turned out. The best part is that this entire display only costs about $40. That includes the sled, the wreath, and the tiny tree. Let me know if you use any of these ideas when you decorate! I am going to be posting a holiday home tour here in a few days so I hope you subscribe and stick around if you like what you see.
